The Effect of Magnet Characteristics of Public and Private Hospitals on Their Technical Performance

Aim: This study aimed to determine the magnet hospital characteristics of public and private hospitals, to measure their technical performance and to determine the effect of magnet characteristics on their technical performance.
Method: The descriptive and relational type of research was conducted between August 2023 and March 2024 with 24 public and 21 private hospitals operating in Ankara Province and nurses working in these hospitals. The data obtained from the nurses were obtained through the Introductory Information Form and the Magnet Hospital Characteristics Scale (EOM II), and the data obtained from the hospitals were obtained through the Ankara Provincial Health Directorate. Descriptive statistics, Mann Whitney U test, data envelopment analysis and simple linear regression analysis were used in the analysis of the data.
Results: According to results, 80.7% of the nurses were female, 68% were undergraduates, and the average of the Magnet Hospital Characteristics Scale for the hospitals was determined as 2.37 for public hospitals and 2.46 for private hospitals. The average technical performance efficiency score for public hospitals was determined as 0.63, while it was determined as 0.78 for private hospitals. A significant difference was observed in terms of the hospital status variable in terms of the magnet hospital characteristics and technical performance of the hospitals. It was determined that the magnet hospital characteristics had a significant, positive and linear effect on their technical performance.
Conclusion: It was concluded that the magnet hospital characteristics of public and private hospitals were at a low level, but the magnet characteristics of private hospitals were higher than public hospitals and the technical performance efficiency scores of private hospitals were higher than public hospitals. However, it was concluded that as the magnet hospital characteristics of hospitals increased, their technical performance efficiency also increased.

Y�ntem: Tan�mlay�c� ve ili�kisel tipteki ara�t�rma, A�ustos 2023-Mart 2024 tarihleri aras�nda Ankara �linde faaliyet g�steren 24 kamu, 21 �zel hastane ve s�z konusu hastanelerde g�rev yapan hem�ireler ile ger�ekle�tirilmi�tir. Hem�irelerden elde edilen veriler, Tan�t�c� Bilgi Formu ve Magnet Hastane �zellikleri �l�e�i arac�l��yla, hastanelerden elde edilen veriler ise Ankara �l Sa�l�k M�d�rl�� arac�l��yla elde edilmi�tir. Verilerin analizinde, tan�mlay�c� istatistikler, Mann Whitney U testi, veri zarflama analizi ve basit do�rusal regresyon analizlerinden yararlan�lm��t�r.
Bulgular: Kat�l�mc� hem�irelerin %80,7�si kad�n, %68�i lisans mezunu olup hastanelerin, Magnet Hastane �zellikleri �l�e�i kamu hastane ortalamalar� 2,37 ve �zel hastanelerin ortalamas� 2,46 olarak belirlenmi�tir. Teknik performans kamu hastaneleri etkinlik puan ortalamas� 0,63 iken, �zel hastanelerin 0,78 olarak saptanm��t�r. Hastanelerin magnet hastane olma �zelliklerinin ve teknik performanslar�n�n hastane stat�s� de�i�keni a��s�ndan anlaml� farkl�l�k g�zlemlenmi�tir. Magnet hastane �zelliklerinin teknik performanslar� �zerinde anlaml�, pozitif ve do�rusal bir etkisinin oldu�u belirlenmi�tir.
Sonu�: Kamu ve �zel hastanelerin magnet hastane �zelliklerinin d��k d�zeyde oldu�u, ancak �zel hastanelerin kamu hastanelerine g�re magnet �zelliklerinin daha y�ksek oldu�u ve �zel hastanelerin teknik performans etkinlik ortalama puanlar�n�n, kamu hastaneleri teknik performans etkinlik puanlar�na g�re daha y�ksek oldu�u sonucuna ula��lm��t�r. Bununla birlikte hastanelerin, magnet hastane �zellikleri artt�k�a, teknik performans etkinliklerinin de artt�� sonucuna ula��lm��t�r.
