The presence of drugs that cause addiction in health institutions and easy access to these drugs create a risk factor among nurses for utilization of substance. These issues which are often ignored and not much talked about in health institutions, are pretty important for nursing because of health of the patients, the trust of society and the negative impact on the image of nursing. To early identify employees who use substances, to direct for treatment, to supply the adaptation of employees after the treatment, to determine the policies of institution about this topic are the responsibility of the nursing administrator. In this review, the risks about utilization of substances among nurses, management intervention againts to these employees, providing support to return to work for employees were discussed based on the literature. Sağlık kurumlarında bağımlılığa yol açan ilaçların bulunması ve ilaçlara kolay ulaşabilmesi hemşireler arasında madde kullanımı için risk oluşturmaktadır. Sağlık kurumlarında çok konuşulmayan genellikle göz ardı edilen bu konu bakım alan kişilerin sağlığı, toplumun güveni ve hemşireliğin imajı üzerine olumsuz etkilerinden dolayı hemşirelik için oldukça önemlidir. Madde kullanımı olan çalışanı erken tanımlamak, tedavi için yönlendirmek, tedavi sonrası çalışanın uyumunu sağlamak, kurumun bu konuyla ilgili politikalarını belirlemek hemşirelik yöneticilerinin sorumluluklarıdır. Bu derlemede, hemşirelerde madde kullanımının riskleri, bu çalışanlara yönelik yönetim müdahalesi, müdahale sonrası işe dönüşte destek sağlanması literatür doğrultusunda tartışılmıştır.
